It’s no secret that building a successful network marketing business is largely dependent upon you and the skills you develop. Among the skills needed, leadership definitely ranks in the top three.
It is one of the key components to mlm success, yet, it can be very difficult to duplicate if you don’t know how. And we all know how important duplication is when trying to sustain a thriving organization.
If you learn to apply the fundamental leadership skills needed to succeed, you can make it much easier for your team to duplicate you. Your team members will intuitively begin to “model” your attitudes, philosophies and behaviors which will in turn make them better leaders.
However, It all begins with you.
Here are a few key points to help you get started on the road to progressive leadership.
-When Does Leadership Begin?
Let’s say you have a superb upline who has created a 10,000 person organization but you are still in the prospecting phase of your business. Is it possible for you to be a leader at that point?
It absolutely is. True leadership actually begins during the prospecting process and NOT once you have a huge organization. You can become a leader even before you have sponsored a soul.
-Two Defining Characteristics of a Leader
Among the many qualities a leader must possess, personal action and long-term commitment are among the most important. Let’s briefly talk about each one.
Personal action – It all starts and ends with this. Those looking for help and guidance are going to be more attracted to leaders who are consistently taking action day in and day out. They want to know what their leader is not asking them to do anything he or she isn’t willing to do themselves. Talk is cheap. Become the type of person who takes relentless action towards your goals.
Long-term vision – Roadblocks will come. When they do, you’ll be ready because you have developed a long-term vision for your life. Looking at the “big-picture” is powerful on so many levels. It allows you to stay grounded when things don’t go your way.
I highly suggest writing down the vision you have for your life and reading it every evening before bed, and every morning immediately after you wake up. This exercise alone will have a huge impact on programming your brain for success.
As you can see, effective leadership is not something to be attained overnight. However, with consistent effort and patience this quality can be developed in both you and your team.
