Just went to a presentation of Saladmaster. The cookware is very impressive with many really great features like the stackability while keeping food warm, being able to stand the lid on the side of the pan, the trivets and the removeable handles, but I have to wonder why so much money!!! And why, if its worth the $5000 for an average set, they use incorrect science and facts? yes some nutrients are lost when cooking vegetables with steam and water but other nutrients that can't be absorbed when they're raw are released! Its all about healthy balanced eating and cooking. We all know baking, steaming and stewing are the healthiest ways to get the most out of our foods, along with buying fresh or frozen etc etc. Its not because of their cookware people aren't eating healthy. I have a really nice high quality stainless steel set and am perfectly capable of preparing quality nutritious meals. I also have a lifetime warranty and the steel used has a high chromium first number etc etc. The amount of metal, if any, that could leach from this cookware is so minute its not worth the discussion (FYI - for iron to seperate itself from the steel is pretty difficult - just saying) and I didn't have to take out a second mortgage to buy it. I just think yes, its an impressive cookware set, but its a shame that its way over priced. As a consumer it raises red flags when I hear "health facts" from the presentor that are dated and clearly incorrect. Tells me they are having a tough time justifying the price on composition alone. (She actually said you will no longer have gas! Really! I'm no doctor but even I know that's impossible) Why use scare tactics about perfectly good products out there to sell Saladmaster when you could just go on its merrits? For me to replace what I have with this stuff ( I have Jamie Oliver Professional Series Stainless Steel 18/10) it would cost me $8,000. I was interested in the electric pan - it is over $1000. There's a reason you can only purchase them through home parties - this allows Saladmaster to remain ridiculously priced. Thank-goodness for Ebay:)

One of our friends introduced me and my wife to Saladmaster. The sales person cooked a delicious dinner with her products and we were "sold." However, the complete set was $10k. Even the smaller sets were $4, 5 and 6k which were still too expensive for us. We were still very interested in getting this cookware at a better price, so I went onto ebay and was able to purchase only the cookware pieces that I needed at prices anyone can afford. I received it all in near new condition, and now my wife and I enjoy the Saladmaster cooking benefits without the debt to finance it.

I felt like I was sitting at a Time Share talk last night!! Who in their right mind spends $5000 on pots and pans! Certainly not me. Yes, they cooked a meal but then at the end they want you to taste water that has been boiling with baking soda in it from 4 different kinds of pots. Not only did it all taste horrible but it almost made one of our friends throw up. Why would you do this after a dinner? and when he said "no" they insisted that they don't get credit for the show unless you try the different kinds, please!! One other thing, the parent company Regal Ware that sells this "wonderful, healthly cookware" also sells 7 other kinds of cookware. Hmm, they sell aluminum, teflon and other that SM says is so bad. Gee does that add up? Check out Regal Ware website if you think I'm making it up.
I wasted three hours of my evening. I felt like telling them to leave after only a half hour. I don't do Time share talks. Buyer beware. Do your research before they come to your house, wish I had never let my daughter let them sign us up. I should have done due diligence.

Wow.

I have spent 18 years in the restaurant industry. I started out as a humble busser and then a host, server, cook, Person in Charge (PIC), 3rd level Manager, and then an Assistant GM.

I have coordninated, served, and cooked for homeless, common, and rich people. I have served former govenor of Oregon Barbara Roberts to the Harleem Globtrotters. I have worked in chain restaurants to high class fine dinning resturants and never have I seen nor recommended by or to anyone the neccessity to buy salad master cookware.

Any so called benifit to buying this stuff is grossly outweighed by what is actually in the pan that you are cooking and furthermore actually putting into your mouth.

Furthermore, if you are a horrible cook, after buying this stuff; you will still be a horrible cook. Cooking is a craft and a craft is like an art; it's a talent that is developed.

After leaving the restaurant industry I found myself in school and becoming a nurse. I am not dietician but I learned the most basic thing any person needs to know in being healthy and eating healthy in regards to caloric intake. The only numbers you need to know is 4-4-9. "4" is the number you need to remember that is the caloric intake of every ounce of carbohydrates and protiens. "9" is the number of calories in every ounce of fat you consume. That will take you far further in your quest to eat healthier than buying this stuff that only transfers and spreads heat around.

I recently met a couple of sales people here in Wilsonville Oregon who are claiming that there product goes against everything in western medicine and it simply doesn't.

As a nurse, I have never seen a doctor prescribe this stuff for it's (so-called)benifit. Not only that but I have never even heard it talked about. This coming from a person who has on multiple occasions seen a prescription of resident's and patient's have a prescription for beer, Jack Daniels, and tabacco being prescribed by Doctors and I would have to put them on the medication sheets.

These same sales people ( Husband and wife) made claims that there product (Salad Master) goes totally against western medicine as stated above. They acted as if the mortality rate would be beat if you bought this product. Everyone will die and I promise you that and this product will have zero bearing on that. They even claimed that there product had more of a bearing on your life then your actually geniology make-up which is above and beyond a farse.

Most people do not know that your body regardless of what you do to eliminate it, Your liver makes all the cholesterol your body needs. Even if you completly eliminate all the cholesterol in your diet that your liver will create it for you. Exactly the samething with your sugar level. Your liver will turn fat into a psuedo-sugar that one can make the claim is harder to control than fats from just carbohydrates.

The best things you can do is just plain old common sense.

CONSULT your doctor
Go for a walk
add vegtables you your diet
Stop eating so much fast foods
Love
Allow to be loved
Laugh
don't let life stop you in your tracks, adapt to change - it's the only constant.

Salad Master probably does put out a good product but it's probably not going to change a thing in your life except to give you a simple pleasure. Keep in mind that Salad Master's warranty doesn't cover your trip to the ER.

It seems that the only ones who dish on Saladmaster are those who have never seen a dinner or tasted food from it... or who don't own it.

It is what it is... do the research... it's not made up.
Basically it comes down to a decision of what is worth it to YOU. But, efficient products DO save, and save and save. SAFE products are worth it to many.

I recently sat beside a lovely lady on the plane. We chatted away... and I asked if she had ever heard of 'waterless cookware'. And she piped up and said,"Why yes... I have Saladmaster!!" I've had it for over 30 years and my Momma had it for... oh I guess it must be over 50!!! I think it saved her house from burning down so many time!!!"

When she heard about the 'non-stick' Titanium 316 Steel... and the no water for 'boiling' eggs she was just amazed. Seems she wants to see the 'new modesl!'

Those who don't want others to see what they themselves do not want to bit the bullet for... and who believe what is said on the internet (because everything is truthful on the internet where there are no names to faces and where people can be much more than they really are...) are amusing to say the least.

Do diligence..... use your own taste buds... common sense and practicality. Everyone who dishes SM, probably has 2 cars, 2+ computers... cell phones and more than one tv. So DON"T be a hypocrite at least. It's just too easy on line! The proof is in the pudding.
NOTE TO BURNING... turn the heat down! Too much heat will burn anything!
(but at least on the 316Titanium Steel.... the meal isn't ruined.. nor is your time or food!.)
Saladmaster is what it is.... the best out there. So, go ahead.... keep on swinging!!!

in the demos, they simmer water and add a little baking soda to bring out the taste of whatever is being leached into the water. i wouldn't even taste some of the water; its smell was enough to convince me. but of the water that i did taste, the all-clad and the saladmaster were the cleanest, with all-clad having a very slight flavor and saladmaster having no flavor at all. this was very convincing evidence, and knowing what i know about heavy metals, i don't want any more of them than i already have or get from the environment. heavy metals accumulate in the tissue of the body, particularly fatty tissue. this becomes a concern when you consider that the brain is about 1/4th fatty tissue. you don't need those metals in your brain in any dosage no matter how small.

About the titanium that a few people have mentioned; there is precious little titanium in SM cookware. They use 316Ti stainless steel on the cooking surface of the cookware. Titanium is a minor component of the alloy (about 0.5%).

"The titanium atoms stabilise the structure of the 316 at temperatures over 800°C."

Since no cookware will ever reach 800°C, the use of 316Ti as opposed to standard grades of 316 is meaningless for this application. However, the word "titanium" is a great marketing buzzword, and has been for a long time; so that is probably why they use it now rather than standard grades of 316 (like 316L).

Teddy said:

"Yes they might have a good material but the price doesn’t justify the price considering that it’s not a pure Titanium cookware, it is composed of several metal bonded together with titanium at the last part."

No, and it is a good thing it is not pure titanium cookware, as pure titanium cookware would perform poorly because titanium is a poor thermal conductor (there is no such thing as a pure titanium pan anyway).

All the layers that they use (what are they up to now, 7?) is just a marketing scheme too. You only need three layers for stainless steel cookware. You want a thick layer of aluminum sandwiched between two thin layers of stainless steel, because aluminum is an excellent thermal conducor, and stainless steel is not. That is how the original Saladmaster stainless steel cookware was made by the way (from the '60s, '70s, and '80s). Additional layers serve no actual purpose, unless you are adding copper layers into the mix (even better thermal conductivity than aluminum), which Saladmaster doesn't do. They only use steel and aluminum, so 3 layers are all that is needed.

Saladmaster cookware is top quality, but highly overpriced. Also, the concern about metals leaching into your food with other stainless steel cookware is ridiculous. Whatever manages to leach into your food will be such a small amount as to be meaningless:

"All things are poison and nothing is without poison, only the dose permits something not to be poisonous." - Paracelsus

Instead of taking your Saladmaster salesman's word for it; a better idea would be to go to the doctor's and find out if you have any elevated levels of metals from your cookware in your system. The doctor's visit will be cheaper than the thousands of dollars for a set of Saladmaster cookware.

I love Saladmaster cookware, and use it daily. However, I inherited mine (it is about 40 years old), so I never spent a dime on it. Saladmaster cookware is worth a premium price, but not nearly as much of a premium as they charge for it these days.

About the titanium that a few people have mentioned; there is precious little titanium in SM cookware. They use 316Ti stainless steel on the cooking surface of the cookware. Titanium is a minor component of the alloy (about 0.5%).

“The titanium atoms stabilise the structure of the 316 at temperatures over 800°C.”

Since no cookware will ever reach 800°C, the use of 316Ti as opposed to standard grades of 316 is meaningless for this application. However, the word “titanium” is a great marketing buzzword, and has been for a long time; so that is probably why they use it now rather than standard grades of 316 (like 316L).

Teddy said:

“Yes they might have a good material but the price doesn’t justify the price considering that it’s not a pure Titanium cookware, it is composed of several metal bonded together with titanium at the last part.”

That is how the original Saladmaster stainless steel cookware was made by the way (from the ’60s, ’70s, and ’80s). Additional layers serve no actual purpose, unless you are adding copper layers into the mix (even better thermal conductivity than aluminum), which Saladmaster doesn’t do.

“All things are poison and nothing is without poison, only the dose permits something not to be poisonous.” – Paracelsus

Instead of taking your Saladmaster salesman’s word for it; a better idea would be to go to the doctor’s and find out if you have any elevated levels of metals from your cookware in your system. The doctor’s visit will be cheaper than the thousands of dollars for a set of Saladmaster cookware.
