Premier Designs Expert Review by Brian Garvin and Jeff West

By Brian and Jeff On April 1, 2009 Under MLM-Programs-P

Premier Designs, Inc. is a company that offers high end fashion jewelry, with a catalog of over 730 jewelry items. With both modern, antique, and contemporary looks, the company’s product offerings is fairly extensive. The company also offers the opportunity for individuals to run a home business as a Premier Designs Jeweler. As a Jeweler, you are a sales consultant and an independent distributor.

There are a few ways to earn money with the company. First, you earn a 50% sales commission on all personal sales. Then, you earn a 10% commission on the sales made by Jewelers that you sponsor and train. Sponsoring other sales agents simply means that you have recruited them and have helped them become trained Premier Designs Jewelers. In addition, you can earn a 10% commission on sales made by the first three levels in your downline.

Premier Designs does not expect you to keep an inventory or tie up inventory dollars. The company’s preferred method of sales is through Home Shows, which you book through your friends, family members, and others. The host or hostess of the party books a show and invites the people they know to the show. You, as the independent distributor, will sell fashion jewelry to the guests of the show.

[phpbay]network marketing, 6, “”, “”[/phpbay]

To entice your friends and others to host a show, you introduce them to the benefits of hosting a show. The hostess receives anywhere from four to eight items at half off, and get free jewelry. The amount of free jewelry that the hostess may earn depends on the sales total from the show. The general formula is $30 in merchandise credit per $100 sold.

As an independent distributor, you earnings increase with every person you recruit into the Premier Designs sales opportunity. At every party, you will introduce the concept to all the guests of the show, as well as the hostess, in hopes of signing them up as Jewelers. You will then invite interested parties to speak with you after the show so that you can give them more information on the opportunity.

Premier Designs does not require you to meet sales quotas or show minimums in order to remain active with the company. You also do not need any formal training or sales experience. Although you are working for the company, you are essentially working for yourself. You have the freedom of setting your own hours and taking the opportunity to part-time or full-time levels.

Premier Designs offers training for new independent distributors in the form of literature, audio files, and video. As well, they have a customer service hotline just for Jewelers so that your questions can be answered right away. To learn more about this opportunity or to sign up as a distributor, visit the company’s website.

I’ll have to say I’m a natural skeptic when it comes to any kind of “home based business”. They ALWAYS seem to be slimy, shady and used-car-salesman-ish. My wife looked into Premier Designs Jewelry, however, and it seemed like it was legit from the outside. After much consideration and talking about it – she decided to do it. I was still pretty skeptical for the first couple of weeks. Then she started holding her own ‘shows’ – after her training, etc. That convinced me right then that this was an honest, no-bull, fair, “business”. She isn’t ripping anyone off and she is making a profit (some months are _really_ good, some are just ok). But this is absolutely a deal that a person can honestly make a few hundred bucks in a single night… no kidding. My wife has done it multiple times. There is a lot of back-office work that she does and a dedicated desk/area is necessary. The person needs to be outgoing and able to talk to just about anybody.

If there are others out there wondering if this is a legit thing – I’d say absolutely. No games, no inventory, no quotas, no tricks, nothing hidden. And its really good product at decent prices.

I am a jeweler with Premier and it has been the most amazing journey for me and my family. It has been both incredibly financially rewarding (50% profit without quotas) and emotionally and spiritually embracing. The company puts people first over profit, seriously!!! I would love to chat with anyone looking to eliminate a monthly bill, pay for braces, car payment, college, or just have some FUN MONEY!!! You owe it to yourself and your family to hear about us because there are no other companies out there like Premier designs!

I have 2 friends who sell premier, and while I’m sure they’re making some money, they’re doing it by pushing overpriced costume jewelry. I saw a necklace in a recent catalog that I thought was cute and trendy, and my jaw dropped when I saw the $70 price tag! I managed to win it on Ebay for $14 and imagine my shock when in person it’s very cheap looking, and not even worth the $14 I paid, let alone $70! My point is if you’re expected to pay such high prices for fake costume jewelry it better be of the HIGHEST quality, and sadly it’s poor to fair in most cases. STOP RIPPING OFF YOUR FRIENDS, FAMILY, AND CO-WORKERS!

The previous reviewer purchased from Ebay. There are hundreds of fake Ebay sales of Premier Jewelry. One should not provide a poor review of a product that he or she does not know actually comes from the company he/she is reviewing. I would personally love to hear from honest purchasers who do not work for Premier about their impressions of quality. My wife is considering joining and I’d like to know.

In reference to the ebay sales of Premier, one of the leading sellers has a location of China. Premier is a US based company out of Texas. If someone in China is selling these items for rock bottom prices I would have to assume it is a fake. The exporting from the US to China alone would kill their profits. Sometimes it’s just common sense that will keep you from buying fake junk on ebay. Ebay purchases should never be used to review a product, imo.

I purchased the Black Tie ring at a recent party my friend had at her house (so I did not purchase the item on ebay). I was very excited to receive it and for $36 I was expecting a quality piece of jewelry I would enjoy for years to come. I’ve worn it 3 times and the finish is already worn off on the inside and there are wear marks on the outside. I also ran into a friend at work that I found out has the same ring and the finish is completely worn off of hers after a few months of casual wear. We both have office jobs. If you search online you’ll find others who have similar experiences with poor quality. Which I guess makes sense, if Premier is letting their jewelers make 50% commission and then 10% down the line, there isn’t much money left to invest in quality. I’m disappointed. Marvin, I wouldn’t get involved with them…my opinion. I would find a better quality product. Commission may not be as high, but at least you’d be able to sleep at night knowing you’re not selling junk to your friends.

I have recently had a premier party, I was excited to see the hostess benefits. However, two of my pieces I purchase have been returned. I was very upset with the quality. I felt horrible knowing that I had friends and family over for a party and they spent their hard earned money on over priced costume jewelery. The earrings I purchased wouldn’t clip, it was broken from manufacturing, the necklace I bought was broken right out of the package that’s not what I’d like to spend $100 on. I am a business owner myself and make 50% profit, however, I know that my products are of the highest quality. I don’t know if I could sleep at night knowing that I’m ripping people off with broken, poor quality jewelery. I’m glad you ladies are having good luck with it though!

If you have a product that is damaged from manufacturing, it will be replaced for free. Just contact your jewelry lady.
If you are unhappy with the quality of the item, you can exchange it for another item, no problem, no charge. But you have to contact your jewelry lady, not just post online!
Give her a chance to make it right- the jewelry line is changed out 2x per year, and items that have quality problems are deleted, or corrected regularly.
I have pieces I have owned for 8 years, and still have no problem with. I have had a few that I haven’t been happy with the quality- I just exchange for another item.
I have been to the manufacturing plant for Premier, and seen their attention to detail- they have the highest quality standards in the industry for fashion jewelry. Sometimes, since it’s made by hand, stuff happens!

Also- I tend to have a high acid content in my body, so that can damage the finish very quickly, especially if I sweat, shower, or put on sprays while wearing fashion jewelry… that’s not a quality issue- it’s a “wear and tear” issue.

Let your jewelry distributor make it right!

March 14, 2011

Hi AZ – I actually did communicate with my jeweler as well and she was very gracious and replaced my ring with another…which is doing the exact same thing. (The finish is coming off on the inside after only 3 wears and the outside is starting to wear as well.) I guess the problem I have with Premier is that if I want to return something, I can’t, I have to exchange something I’m unhappy with and take a gamble on something else. I understand that there are many jewelers that are happy with what they are doing with Premier, but it seems like in a sense they’ve been brainwashed that NOTHING bad can ever happen to a piece of Premier jewelry, so if it does happen, it must have been the customers fault or a COMPLETE freak of an accident kind of thing. That kind of mindset really turns me off as a customer. Just admit that you’re not selling the crown jewels – we all know it’s costume jewelry – own it and live with it!

I know people trash talk Premier Designs, but they are a debt free company so the fact that you make 50% has nothing to do with the “low quality” of product. I have purchased costume jewelry from other companies and have terrible experiences! Lia Sophia for instance did not want to replace my earrings that turned, my neclace that frayed (the metal was fraying anc scratching my neck) because I did not have my receipt and I was no longer in contact with my sales consultant. Every Jeweler i have dealt with from Premier has been awesome and I have not had any problems with mine thus far. They treat their people good and that is something to be proud of. No you can’t get your money back, but not many jewelry stores will give you a credit for the original value of something if you wore it for eight years and then it breaks… they do and all it will cost you is $5 plus your local sales tax. I do not sell it, in fact I sell Thirty- One and I can honestly say I wish our company had the same return policy. I hate telling a customer, I am sorry your 90 day return policy has passed and all I can offer you is a replacement item at 25% off. Just something to keep in mind.

I’m a former Premier Designs consultant. I was excited to join a company that talked about putting people first and had such a faith-based business. I did make decent money, but soon started getting many phone calls about quality issues. I also started experiencing these issues with my own jewelry. After only two months I decided to stop selling Premier. I really believe that the jewelry is worth about half the price it sells for (if that sometimes) – thus, the 50% commission. In the end, I was one that couldn’t sleep at night selling this to my friends & family. I did replace things for my customers – only to have it happen again. You need to really consider this before making the investment to join their team. In the end, I think I lost money because more than a few pieces of my jewelry are now unwearable.

I would just like to say that Premier Designs is a Biblical based company and yes there are some returns however it is a bridge jewelry not a costume or fine jewelry! Alot of this jewelry is handmade and yes like all of us there is mistakes made however I am very thankful that I can return it if there is, this jewelry is not made to last forever, if it was it would have the fine jewelry price with it! Premier wants the best for there customers and that is why they have the golden gaurantee so they realize the people just like you and me have a job and they make mistakes, However if you buy a piece of costume jewelry from a dept. store and it breaks after you wear it they will not return it or give you your money back! So Be thankful the company is so trustworthy and thinks or you! As far as laying down and sleeping at night, that has nothing to do with the sell of your jewelry to your friends because they have a choice to buy or not to buy you just offer it and if there is a problem it is fixable and if you fix it then you should be able to sleep at night! Bottom line is people would rather fuss than to be thankful!

Amanda

I agree with bb. I own a couple of pieces and I like it. I am considering selling and I think everyone needs to know that Premiere has a great return policy. NOTHING last forever anymore so get yourself some nice costume jewelry, go out and look fabulous and let your friends rave about how great you look! No, I do not like every piece but there is something for everyone!

bb, I’m going to have to disagree with you on one of those points. Stores take returns on items every day, especially on low cost items. If I purchase a $40 item and take it home and it breaks, I’m certainly going to return it to the store, wouldn’t you? (Average-ish price of a Premier piece of jewelry) But with Premier, I can’t return it, I have to exchange it for the same thing, or a different thing from the same manufacturer. This is completely against how I do business anywhere else. If I’m not happy with a product, I may give that manufacturer the benefit of the doubt in thinking I received a defective product the first time, but after 2, 3 times? I stop wasting my time and money and move on to better products. I’d encourage those visiting here to do the same.

Premier may be debt free, they may be the highest-commission paying MLM, they may have other things going for them, but if they don’t have the quality product to back them up, their reputation will fade just like the finish on my Black Tie Ring.

I bought my first piece of jewelry from Premier Designs Jewelry last summer and I loved it. I wore it every few days and received nothing but compliments on the item, “Lady Fair”. After having it for six months, the necklace broke; however, I got it exchanged for the same necklace and paid only $5 plus tax. My jeweler lady was very helpful and quick to get the item replaced for me. I went to another jewelry show a friend of mine had and it was also Premier Designs, in which I bought two more pieces that I totally fell in love it. I have yet to have any issues with the two items from Premier Designs. I ended up having two of my own shows back to back afterwards because I was impressed with the quality, price of jewelry, and hostess benefits. I have to disagree with Jane with her comments she has written about Premier Designs.

Premier Designs Jewelry is “high fashion” not costume jewelry. Though Premier does not offer return policy after 3 days, they provide an exchange for the same thing or something else pretty much for life as long as it is a manufacturing problem. This is by far the best exchange policy yet. The jewelers I’ve came across are honest, professional, trustworthy, and outgoing so I have not had any problems with Premier.

Cheap jewelry is not part of Premier Design’s vocabulary, they make sure they stand by their product as well as their jewelers. As a customer, I would have to agree that Premier Designs is one of the best jeweler company. Everyone has their own opinion but if you take a chance with Premier Designs jewelry and should there by any issues with your piece, give your jeweler lady the opportunity to fix the problem. Remember the jewelry are hand made and we are “human”, therefore, there are human errors–we make mistakes, we are not perfect.

With that said, Premier Design Jewelry is like no other. I love it!!!

June 22, 2011

Hello! I have been to a few Premier Designs home shows, and I must say that each jewelry consultant/advisor is very different. Some of the shows emphasized how fun it was to try on the jewelry and eat good food and talk with your friends. Others were more focused on the shopping experience and I could tell that the ladies selling really wanted to make some money.
Since each show can be so different, I understand how some previous posts said that they felt like they were forcing their friends and family to buy ‘cheap’ jewelry. Perhaps people did feel forced to buy, but not every consultant is going to emphasize this as much. You really can’t lump all the salespeople and the company together.
As for the ‘cheapness’ of the products, as Faye said, the jewelry is “high fashion” and not fine jewelry (and even fine jewelry is subject to wear and tear, that’s life folks!). Premier is less expensive than fine jewelry, but more expensive than most jewelry you can buy at a department store. You get what you pay for. If you don’t want to pay that much for jewelry, then don’t buy any. You should be able to say no. However, you don’t have to bash the company just because you said no.

I hosted a premier jewelry party, and ended up recieving beautiful jewelry to give to my family for Christmas gifts. There was only 7 people at my party, and it was a huge hit! The jewelry was very nice, and the warranty on the pieces in awesome! Considering the Jeweler gets 50% of the host sales.. is pretty great!Even if you dont have alot of people, roughly each person will pay 30$ or more on their pieces, because it is nice jewelry. so based on how many parties you want to throw a month, even if you throw one a week, ull make at least 100 extra a week, on a small party..minimum. Either way i love the products!

I was a Premier Jeweler, and I left because, while I loved the company, I was not willing to represent the quality of the jewelry. I had so many pieces of low quality, tons of returns due to tarnishing, breaking, etc. I had pieces I wouldn’t even put on my table at shows because they looked like they came from Claire’s. Also, you cannot exchange any current item (AZ) for something else. You can only exchange within 3 days of your purchase, at which point you most likely do not have your jewelry, or if it’s a retired item. Not worth the prices of the items.

Stop saying the wrong thing to your prospects.
